STAY CURRENT WITH THE LEADING AUTOMOTIVE SHOW IN INDONESIA
IndoAutomotive 2011 enters its 4th edition as the highly anticipated Automotive Show in Indonesia. Helmed by veteran Trade Organizer, PT Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur (WAKENI), with 19 years of experience, IndoAutomotive 2011 features the most current and recent in automotive components of cars and motorcycles. The year’s lineup includes a first time feature of a motorcycle segment. Buoyed by confidence boosts of the economy, IndoAutomotive 2011 embarks on a mission to bring the best exhibition ever presented.
Forecast for Indonesia 2011
Indonesia’s central bank raised its 2011 economic growth forecast to as much as 6.5 percent from an earlier forecast of as much as 6 percent as consumer spending accelerates. Gross domestic product is projected to increase by between 6 percent and 6.5 percent next year. The central bank raised its estimate for 2010 growth to 5.6 percent from 5.2 percent.
Opportunities Abound for Foreign Investors
With the saturation of the markets in the western world, companies are turning their attention to the Asian region to grow their businesses. The automotive industry is growing at an unprecedented speed in the Asian region. China, India and Asean (Association for South East Asian Nations) countries have been identified to be driving markets for the industry. AFTA or Asean Free Trade Area is a huge contributing factor.
Indonesian with 240million in population figures holds tremendous amount of potential for the foreign investor. Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia are potential markets. Cheap financing, rising income levels and infrastructure developments will drive the growth in the majority of the Asian automotive markets. The size of the domestic market is reason enough for the discerning foreign investor. Markets remain virtually untapped in many rural and suburban areas.
Indonesia’s largest automotive distributor, PT Astra International Tbk for Toyota expects record high 2010 car and motorcycle sales as consumer demand increases. Astra now expects domestic vehicle sales to be above 600,000 units this year, an increase from a previous forecast of 520,000 to 530,000 units, and 23 percent higher than 2009 sales. The positive outlook is prevalent across major players in the industry. Analysts believe vehicle sales will rise more than 11 percent in 2010, said Bambang Trisulo, chairman of the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo).
Motorcycle Industry in Indonesia
In Indonesia, the motorcycle is still a preferred mode of transportation as it is both cheap and easy to maneuver, both in urban and rural areas. In 2008 the motorcycle industry enjoyed brisk sales. Prospects in the year 2009 continued to be good. Global recession since early 2008 did not affect the demand for motorcycle because purchasing power continued to be good through 2009 and the first quarter of 2010.
National motorcycle industry continues to experience growth, driven by the low cost of ownership and the flexibility and ease of riding a motorbike. The lack of an integrated mass transportation system works well for motorcycle industry. Ownership ratio in Indonesia is still relatively low and market penetration shows tremendous potential considering Indonesia’s huge 240 million population. This has encouraged the growth of production capacity.
In the year 2008, sales of motorcycles reached more than 6 million units – a record for motorcycle sales. Growth continued to be outstanding at 33.2 percent. 2009, 2010 and 2011 are widely expected to be trending upwards.
The rationale for a new segment cannot be at a more appropriate time and place. IndoAutomotive 2011 brims with anticipation and excitement in this newly created feature of the motorcycle industry.
Against the backdrop of positive sentiments and the outlook for the economy looking set to be soon on the upswing, IndoAutomotive 2011 is gearing up with accelerated enthusiasm to present the most current and recent offerings in the automotive industry and motorcycle trade.
