Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia proudly presents The First & The Biggest Art Fair in Indonesia, BAZAAR ART JAKARTA 2016. Held annually since 2009, this year marks the eighth edition of Bazaar Art Jakarta.

This year, we take Bazaar Art Jakarta to the next level with the appointment of Vivi Yip as the Fair Director. We are pleased to have Vivi Yip join the team as she has long-standing experience in the art world.

As an auction house representative, an art collector and a gallerist, with her outstanding dedication and many contributions to the development of the arts in Indonesia, we believe that Vivi Yip will bring a fresh, new approach to Bazaar Art Jakarta.

Since its inception eight years ago, Bazaar Art Jakarta has evolved into one of the foremost international art fairs in Southeast Asia, as seen from the increasing number of exhibitors and visitors each year. Last year’s Bazaar Art Jakarta 2015 welcomed 34 prestigious international galleries from 11 countries alongside 21 Indonesian galleries to showcase the best works of local and international artists. The four-day art fair generated sales over US$ 3,200,000.

Occupying a 7,500 square meter area at the Ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place, Bazaar Art Jakarta has become the main destination for art collectors and enthusiasts in Indonesia and Asia Pacific alike. Strategically located in an upscale shopping mall in the heart of Jakarta’s Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), the venue attracts the communal and shopping-oriented characteristics of the Indonesian society. Convenient opening times in accordance with the mall’s business hours until 10 PM, allow the art fair to maximize promotions.

The venue inside the shopping mall also further increases the public exposure of the arts in line with the idealism of Bazaar Art Jakarta to greater promote public awareness and appreciation of the arts.

During the eighth edition in 2016, Bazaar Art Jakarta will present more enticing and diverse programs.

The MALLart program, in collaboration with Pacific Place Jakarta as the official venue, will focus on displaying large-scale installations by Indonesia’s prominent artists that will certainly attract many art aficionados. We are delighted that the Young Curator Award will be held the first time, which will focus on discovering young, emerging curators.

The installations by Indonesian artists will also be presented at the entrance and exit areas of the art fair in specifically themed designs and arrangements.

Our regular TALKart program will feature a lineup of local and international speakers to speak on interesting art topics.

EDUart is an educational program created for different age groups of art enthusiasts who are interested in drawing, painting, making murals, screen-printing and sculpting. Everyone is welcome to join this fun, stress-releasing therapy through various art activities.

This year will also see a special collaboration between Bazaar Art Jakarta and the Provincial Government of Jakarta and Indonesia’s Creative Economy Agency in declaring August as Art Month and the fourth week of August as Jakarta Art Week. With the objective of making Indonesia—and Jakarta in particular—an art hub in Asia. This initiative will give added value to visitors’ experience with the arts
